Could It Be Iron?™
Iron is one of the nutrients women most often fall short on — and many never think about it. Yet it's easy to get more of it from the food you already cook. If you're looking to add iron the food-first way, this is a sensible place to start.
Iron is often introduced through supplements, though not everyone finds them easy to tolerate or maintain.
The Iron Egg offers a simple, food-first place to begin.
A More Natural Way to Support Iron
For generations, iron was naturally present in the way we cooked.
Traditional cookware would quietly release small amounts of iron into food. It happened in the background, without needing to think about it.
As cooking methods changed, that source of iron was gradually lost.
Introducing Iron Enrichment™
Iron Enrichment™ is the process of restoring iron to food while you cook.
Not by changing what you eat. By gently increasing the iron content of the meals and drinks you already prepare.
No separate routines. No added complexity.
The Iron Egg®
The Iron Egg® makes Iron Enrichment™ possible.
A reusable cast iron cooking tool that releases small amounts of natural iron into your food and drinks during cooking.
Used in water, tea, soups, sauces, or stews, it works quietly in the background and turns everyday meals into iron-enriched meals.
Make Any Meal Iron-Rich
Instead of focusing on specific iron-rich foods, you can simply add iron to the meals and drinks you already enjoy.
Tea. Pasta. Soups. Sauces. Even warm lemon water.
Everyday food, gently enriched with iron as you cook.
Why It Works
- Inspired by traditional cast iron cookware used for centuries
- Releases around 6mg of iron into food in about 10 minutes
- Maximises contact through its rolling egg shape
- A gentle, food-based source of iron — no pills to swallow
- Independently tested in UK laboratories
- Works in soups, teas, sauces, and lemon water
- Tasteless and easy to use
- Designed for daily use and made to last for years
- Suitable for vegans and vegetarians
Your Daily Iron Ritual
Takes less than 10 minutes.
- Add the Iron Egg to simmering water, tea, or soup with lemon or another acidic ingredient
- Let it infuse for around 10 minutes
- Use the liquid in your cooking or enjoy it as a warm drink
A small daily ritual built into meals you already prepare.
Who It Is For
- Women looking to top up their iron from everyday meals
- Anyone who prefers a food-first step before iron supplements
- Vegans and vegetarians
- Women with increased iron needs
- Anyone seeking a gentle, long-term, food-based approach
The Iron Egg works quietly in the background of meals you already prepare, restoring a traditional way of enriching food with iron.
Iron through food. Not pills.
The Iron Egg is a cooking tool, not a medicine or supplement, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. If you have concerns about your iron levels, please speak to a healthcare professional.

FAQs
Can I use the Iron Egg if I already take iron supplements?
Yes. Iron Egg can be used alongside iron supplements.
Iron Egg adds small amounts of natural dietary iron to food and drinks while cooking. Many people choose to start with a food-based approach first, while others use it alongside supplements as part of their daily routine.
If you are under medical treatment for iron deficiency, follow the guidance of your healthcare professional.
How does the Iron Egg work?
The Iron Egg is made from pure cast iron in a specialist facility.
When boiled in water or used during cooking, it releases small amounts of iron into food. This is similar to how traditional cast iron cookware can naturally increase iron content during cooking.
It provides a simple way to add food based iron to everyday meals without relying on tablets.
Is it safe for daily use?
Yes. The Iron Egg is made from solid cast iron and is designed for regular use.
It releases small amounts of iron during cooking, similar to traditional cookware. Dry it fully after each use to keep it in good condition.
Who should avoid using the Iron Egg?
Anyone who has been advised to avoid iron, or who has high iron levels or iron overload, should not use the Iron Egg unless directed by a healthcare professional.
If you are under medical supervision for iron, follow professional guidance.
How much iron will it add?
Boiling the Iron Egg for around 10 minutes with something acidic such as lemon can release over 6mg of iron under typical conditions.
The exact amount depends on water, acidity, and cooking time. It is designed to provide a gradual daily increase rather than a high dose.
How does it add iron to my food?
The Iron Egg releases small amounts of natural iron into food and water as it cooks. It's a simple food-first step that some people choose before, or alongside, supplements. It isn't a medicine and isn't intended as medical advice.
Will it cause constipation like iron tablets?
The Iron Egg does not contain concentrated iron salts like many supplements.
Instead, it adds small amounts of iron to food or water during cooking. Many people find this approach easier to tolerate.
Does it release heme or non-heme iron?
The Iron Egg releases non-heme iron, the same form found in plant based foods.
Using it with something acidic such as lemon or tomato increases iron release and supports absorption.
How often can I use it?
As often as you like — whenever you simmer something acidic such as water with lemon, soups, or sauces.
Does the water or food taste metallic?
Sometimes, especially in plain water.
If the taste is too strong, reduce the acidity or shorten the boiling time. When used in soups, curries, or sauces, most people notice little to no taste.
What happens if I boil it for too long?
Around 10 minutes is typically recommended.
Leaving it longer will not damage the Iron Egg, but it may make the water taste more metallic. Remove it before serving or drinking.
Will it rust?
Like all cast iron, it can rust if left wet.
Dry it fully after each use. If rust appears, scrub it with dish soap and a non metal pad, then dry thoroughly. It will continue to function normally.
How long does it last?
With proper care, the Iron Egg can last for many years.
It is fully reusable and made from solid cast iron.
What should I do once my iron levels are normal?
You can continue using it a few times per week to help maintain your levels.
If storing it, keep it clean, fully dry, and away from moisture.

Love my Iron Egg - I have a ritual every morning where I make a litre of iron rich water which I infuse with herbal tea and sip throughout the day. Haven't been using that long but feeling clearer headed and less tired.

Loving the iron egg! It’s such a simple change to your lifestyle and makes a real difference. As someone who has struggled on and off with low iron, this is a game changer. Has really helped with light-headedness and low energy.

I really struggle with iron supplements, upset tummy constipation...but with this clever little iron egg I have had no unwanted side effects. It is so easy to use and as a one time purchase an eco and health conscious choice. Easier than an skillet and cheaper in the long run than supplements. Who could ask for more?...

I have used 'Alan' to boil up some drinking water, with lemon juice, and took this to work. Alan has also gone into soup and a tomato sauce. When he came out of the boiling water he was really hot so you need to take care. Kept his heat for ages. He lives in an egg cup by the hob so we don't lose him. I am using along with iron tablets so trying to add it in to my normal cooking.

I have been using my iron egg almost every day and can already see an improvement and I am feeling less fatigued! It’s super easy to use and the instructions were very clear! Highly recommend.

Been using this product for a few months now. Lives by the cooker so I remember to use it. It's been easy to use and doesn't change the taste of food. Definitely seeing improvements in my energy levels. Would recommend.

We haven't used that much - a couple of times, so we'll use it again.

This was delivered quickly and I can't wait to start using it. The concept is amazing, just pop into boiling water at the bottom of a steamer pan with some lemon juice. I use my veggie steamer every day anyway. I am currently using up some vegan iron tablets that I was already taking, but will be using the egg once these are finished. I may come back with another review later in my journey 😊

Very good quality and works well. You need to be prepared to make your liter of water Everyday but I think it is a small price to pay for good quality iron nowadays

Store owner replied: Thank you Anais! That means a lot to us. You are right, it does ask for a small daily ritual, but that's exactly what allows it to deliver real, food-based iron without pills, fillers, or stomach side effects. We are so glad it is working well for you and that you are feeling the quality. If you ever need tips on getting the most out of it, we are always here to help.
Early days so haven’t noticed any real changes but I have the belief that it is helping & hope to feel some differences as I use it more. I like to have it with ginger & lemon as a warming drink & also add the iron water into cooking such as curry or chilli etc or to rehydrate dried fruit. I don’t find it has a taste of iron, unlike a spray supplement I’ve used in the past which was just unpleasant! And of course it’s reusable. Happy so far🙂

I try to incorporate the iron egg into most our cooking now - from making compote (great online recipe thank you!) to using it in the cooking water when boiling pasta, There's been no difference in taste which i was worried about with two fussy kids! Plus it's super easy to clean and store :-)

This is a great way to add much-needed iron to my diet as I am anaemic. It is simple to use. I make a litre of water the night before and drink it cold the next day. It is easy to stir into food on the hob too. I think it will really help boost my iron and ferritin levels and am looking forward to my next blood test results!

Store owner replied: Thank you Philip - really glad to hear you’re enjoying it and finding it easy to use.
I simmer it in water or tea for 10–15 minutes— also dishes with a little acidity (like tomato-based sauces), which supposedly helps the iron leach better. I usually rinse, dry, and store it right after use to avoid rust, and that’s been easy enough so far. If you're looking for a natural, low-effort way to support your iron intake—especially if you’re avoiding pills—the Iron Egg is a smart buy. It takes a little maintenance, but nothing too tricky. Probably best as a supplement to an overall iron-conscious diet. Would recommend for: vegetarians, light meat-eaters, or anyone who struggles with pill-based iron!

I honestly can’t recommend The Iron Egg enough. After struggling with low iron for years and not being able to tolerate traditional iron tablets due to the awful side effects (nausea, cramps, you name it) this has been a total lifesaver. Easy to use: I just pop it in my tea or soup with some lemon and that’s it. Within a couple of weeks, I noticed my energy levels improving, and fatigue started to lift. My hands and feet aren’t always freezing cold anymore either! The packaging was lovely, shipping was quick, and the instructions were really clear. Genuinely one of the best health purchases I’ve ever made.

I have used the egg when cooking rice or noodles and used the water from the iron egg. I don’t have an iron deficiency so haven’t seen any difference in myself yet but using the egg is very straight forward so I don’t see why it wouldn’t be of benefit to those deficient in iron.

I can't stomach the iron supplements the gp gave me so thought I'd give this a try. Been using it for a few weeks. Tried it just with water and lemon but I don't like the taste. Can definitely taste the iron in water - tastes like Spatone. So I added it to my evening meal when cooking and can't taste anything and no constipation! Feeling less tired in the afternoons since I started.

Store owner replied: Thank you for sharing your experience. Mixing with a little orange juice or squash can definitely help with masking the taste of iron in the water.

Does as it says on the box. I boil it in some water and drink the iron-infused water with some lemon and honey. Tastes great and easy to look after. It's well made and solid cast iron so it needs to be dried after use. Been using for a few weeks and feel it working. Nice product.
