How To Use

FAQs
How does the Iron Egg work?
The Iron Egg is made from cast iron in a specialist facility that produces pure cast-iron cookware.
Cooking with cast-iron cookware significantly increases the iron content of many foods.
The Iron Egg applies this same principle, but instead of cast iron pots and pans, which are heavy and difficult to use, you just pop in an Iron Egg.
I have low iron. Will it help?
Yes! The Iron Egg has been specifically made to help people with low iron improve their iron levels.
How long before I notice a difference?
Increasing your daily iron intake with the Iron Egg can improve symptoms of low iron within approximately three months. Since iron is a natural mineral, increasing your levels takes time and should be done gradually.
What happens if I boil the Iron Egg for too long?
The Iron Egg should be removed after 10 minutes of boiling. If it is left in the pot for too long, the taste of the water may be altered, becoming metallic. It is recommended not to drink water that has been over-infused. Similarly, when using the Iron Egg in liquid-based meals like soups, it should also be removed after 10 minutes.
Does the water/food have a metallic taste?
If you are making it with just water, a slightly metallic taste is normal. If it's too strong, try:
- Reducing the lemon juice, as that can make the water overly acidic, causing more iron to be released.
- Reducing the time the Iron Egg is left in the pot, ensuring it stays in for no more than 10 minutes.
When using the Iron Egg with food, you won't notice any change in taste at all.
Will the Iron Egg rust?
The Iron Egg is designed with a smooth, crevice-free surface to minimize the risk of rust. However, since it is made from cast iron, it may rust if left wet due to natural oxidation. To prevent this, ensure it is thoroughly dried after each use. If rust does form, it can be easily removed with a scrub pad and dish soap.
Why is it shaped like an egg?
Research showed that stirring helps release more iron. To make the Iron Egg more effective, it was designed as an egg with a pointed tip so it rolls naturally in the pot as it boils. Tests confirmed that this rolling motion increases the amount of iron released.
My iron levels have returned to normal. What now?
The Iron Egg can be shared or reused. If you no longer need frequent iron intake, you can keep it and use it occasionally.
To ensure proper care, retain the packaging as it includes detailed instructions. If the Iron Egg hasn’t been used for a while, clean it thoroughly with dish soap and a scrub pad before using it again.
