A vibrant and nutritious breakfast bowl packed with iron-rich ingredients and enhanced with The Iron Egg for a natural energy boost.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 5 minutes
Serves: 2

Ingredients:

For the Iron-Infused Water:

  • 300ml water
  • 1 Iron Egg
  • 3 drops of lemon juice

For the Smoothie Base:

  • 100g fresh spinach leaves
  • 150g mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries)
  • 1 ripe banana, frozen and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 200ml iron-infused water (from above)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Ice (optional)

For the Toppings:

  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower seeds
  • 1 tablespoon flaxseeds
  • Fresh mixed berries
  • Sliced banana
  • Drizzle of honey or maple syrup

Method:

STEP 1
First, prepare the iron-infused water. Bring 300ml water to a boil in a small saucepan. Add The Iron Egg and 3 drops of lemon juice. Simmer for 5 minutes. Remove the Iron Egg carefully and allow the water to cool completely.

STEP 2
In a high-powered blender, combine the spinach, mixed berries, frozen banana slices, rolled oats, chia seeds, and 200ml of the cooled iron-infused water. Add ice (optional).

STEP 3
Blend until smooth and creamy. Add honey or maple syrup if desired for additional sweetness. The consistency should be thicker than a regular smoothie but pourable.

STEP 4
Pour the smoothie mixture into bowls. Arrange the toppings artfully on the surface: pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flaxseeds, fresh berries, and banana slices. Finish with a light drizzle of honey or maple syrup if desired.

STEP 5
Serve immediately while cold and fresh.

Tips:

  • Freeze the banana overnight for a creamier, colder smoothie bowl.
  • The iron-infused water can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For additional iron, add 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder to the smoothie base.
  • The vitamin C from the berries helps your body absorb the iron more effectively.
  • This smoothie bowl provides approximately 30% of your daily iron requirements.
